Is your cargo dry?Every year thousands of containers suffer cargo damage through moisture and condensation. Metals arrive corroded, cardboard boxes mouldy and soggy which can result in poor presentation, and in many cases foodstuffs can be unfit for consumption. Millions are spent on protective packaging such as coatings and silica gel which are very often ineffective.
The solution is to create a dry environment within the shipping container. Absorpole is based on the proven ability of Calcium Chloride to aggressively remove moisture from the air. The resulting brine is collected in the base section and is easily disposed of on arrival.
Absorpole is made only from recycled PE/PP plastics and salt, which are non-toxic and recyclable.

Moisture control in shipping containersWhoever has opened a shipping container only to find his valuable cargo rusted, moldy and dripping with water can readily appreciate the dangers of moisture in container transports. Most cases of moisture damage are far less severe – peeling labels, mould surfaces or soggy packaging".
The root cause of moisture damage in container transport is the simple fact that warm air can hold more moisture than cold air. Take the dewy grass in the morning after a cool summer night as an example. Moisture gets into the air in the container from the outside or by evaporation from the cargo. When the temperature in the container changes or there is a difference in temperature between different parts of the cargo, damaging moisture conditions arise.

Moisture process in the containerA container is a closed system with it’s own unique ” weather” inside. It differs from the warehouse in that the variation in temperature is much greater. It is not unusual to have containers wherein temperatures range from freezing to 60-70C during the course of a single voyage.
